THIS WILL BLOW YOUR MINDS! I received this email in response to a letter I signed online and which was distributed to leaders in my state:
Message body Dear Ms. Robrahn,
Thank you for your communication regarding corporate personhood. I must advise you that I serve in the Florida House of Representatives, and therefore have no authority in the U.S. Congress.
... However, your opinion might have merit when unions cannot use union funds to support candidates.
Sincerely,
Bill Proctor
State Representative
District 20
900 State Road 16, Suite 2
St Augustine, FL 32084
My response to "Rep." Proctor:
(If you can improve on my response, please do. I will, happily, send another email to "Rep." Proctor.)
Rep. Proctor;
Unions represent their members, who are individuals. When unions support a candidate or a cause, it is with the approval of the rank and file. To me this is the true definition of Democracy.
When corporations throw millions ...of dollars at a candidate or a cause, they are only representing themselves, they do not need to seek approval or concensus from anybody else.
Unions support candidates for political reasons, which is as it should be. Corporations do it with their bottom line as their only consideration.
The point being, Corporations only represent themselves. Unions represent individuals.
It is obvious, from your response, whom YOU represent. (And it is not individual constituents).
Sincerely,
Joanne Robrahn
